A fragrance with a romantic story…legend has it that Albert Fouquet was creating his own fragrances when in the 1930’s he crossed paths with a young JFK while they were both holidaying on the French Riviera. Upon meeting, JFK fell in love with the fragrance that Albert was wearing and convinced him to give him a tiny vial to take back to the US with him. Without knowing who he was or his family’s significance, Albert conceded leaving JFK a note “In this bottle, you will find the dash of French glamour that your American personality lacks.”
Once he returned from his holidays, everyone wanted to know what JFK was wearing so he wrote back to Albert asking for “eight samples, and if your production allows, another one for Bob”. And so, as they say, the rest is history.
Let's chat about the juice though - what was it that made everyone fall in love with this fragrance? There really is something about this scent. It is old world charm that stands the test of time and is still relevant and wearable today. There is something special that is hard to pinpoint. It will almost always get compliments. We open with a fresh splash of lemon and pink pepper that quickly softens as gentle woods take hold. This fragrance remains quite fresh and gentle on the skin even though the base is woods. Perhaps it is the mysterious Andrea plant that Albert claimed was the special sauce - a flower that he found while hiking in the Swiss Alps and not used before in perfumery. I guess that we’ll never know, but you have to admit there is a certain je ne sai quoi about Eight & Bob.
