An imagined floral fragrance, Ingenious Ginger is Dimitri Weber’s ode to the torch ginger lily - an unscented flower that he would visually admire every time he was on holidays in the lusciously remote Atherton, in Northern Australia. A flower without a fragrance, we have an olfactory imagining of what this flower should smell like…
With Ingenious Ginger, Dimitri has beautifully captured the tropical landscape of our northern tip, the humid tropics of the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. An incredible rainbow of native plants, with astonishing and extravagant flowers, leaves, roots, and fruits. Ingenious Ginger creates an instant sense of nature.
Upon first smelling this fragrance, it fills your nose with a joyous fizziness. Like opening an ice cold can of your favourite soft drink on the hottest of summer days. At first it was cola, that iconic ginger laced fizz, but soon we realised its a cross between a can of Fanta and a Ginger Ale. The ginger simmers on the skin, and if it could be heard it would be a satisfyingly dulsat fizzzzzz.
This effervescence gradually dies down to leave a creamy, ambery base with just the right hint of spice to feel like you are in the middle of a tropical paradise, taking in the scents and surroundings of this space, and of course, smelling the torch ginger lily, as if in a dream.
